OLS - Online linguistic support for asylum seekers and refugees

To the benefit of around 100.000 refugees over coming 3 years, the Erasmus+ Online Linguistic Support (OLS) provides currently online language courses. Courses are offered in English, Swedish, Czech, Danish, German, Greek, Spanish, French, Italian, Dutch, Polish and Portuguese. OLS online platform is accessible with a licence free of charge for the student.

The OLS licences are now available also to individuals applying for asylum, those having already obtained refugee status or positive decision on asylum, temporary/subsidiary protection or humanitarian protection. OLS courses can be studied without age limits.

Studying in OLS is on a voluntary basis and free of charge. A computer, tablet or smartphone with an internet connection is required. The OLS language courses include a variety of self-paced modules covering different linguistic areas, as well as "Live Coaching" interactive activities (online MOOCs, tutoring sessions and forums)

In Finland, CIMO operates as a national OLS agency. In practice, the licences are being submitted by SIMHE projects realized in UniPID network in the University of Jyväskylä and Metropolia University of Applied Science

In case your work includes supportive activities for refugees or you know someone representing this new target group of OLS and interested in online language studies, please feel free to pass this information.

If you are interested in obtaining a licence, please contact in SIMHE-UniPID project coordinator Marita Häkkinen,
