Resources for Virtual Studies
The Toolkit for Transforming Learning in Virtual Courses through Teacher-Student Partnerships aims to provide reflections, examples, and resources for course coordinators, teachers, and students to foster meaningful participation, communication, and engagement in virtual courses.
Virtual courses are open to students with diverse resources, backgrounds, contexts, and realities. This toolkit introduces the concept of Students as Partners (SaP), which positions students as contributors to the co-development of their educational learning experiences. The toolkit presents how this can be practically implemented using two frameworks: the Before, During, and After stages, as well as the Head, Heart, and Feet approach. The former represents the stages of the virtual course development, while the latter consists of a continuous reflection process of the teachers’ and students’ beliefs, feelings, and actions.
This toolkit offers reflections and resources that encourage critical thinking and activation. These should, however, not be regarded as exhaustive nor prescriptive; instead, we hope they serve as inspiration and a starting point for exploring inclusive and participatory practices in virtual courses. We hope you can use these elements as a foundation for learning and adapting your approach to suit your course's and students' unique needs.
Funded by the EDUCase platform, the toolkit Transforming Learning in Virtual Courses through Teacher-Student Partnerships offers a comprehensive yet flexible framework to address these challenges. Developed by UniPID in collaboration with GINTL, University of Oulu, University of Namibia, Una Europa, and student consultants from Oulu and Namibia, the toolkit serves as a starting point for those committed to fostering inclusive and participatory practices in virtual learning.
