The interim report of the Forum for International Affairs in Higher Education and Research has been published!

UniPID supports the promotion of a more international and globally responsible Finnish higher education and research
Since 2020, the second Forum for International Affairs in Higher Education and Research (KV-foruumi) appointed by the Ministry of Education and Culture in Finland, has been monitoring and developing the implementation of international policies for higher education and research. This work has taken place in the light of the changes in the operating environment, and taking into account other existing, national and international policies. UniPID has been part of this workforce, especially looking at concrete ways to strengthen Finnish universities’ global responsibility and global partnerships.
The interim report of the Forum raises topical themes developed by four subgroups and provides inputs for measures for bringing more international scope to Finnish higher education and research.
UniPID has been co-leading the forum’s subgroup for globally responsible programme, which has provided a mapping and overview of the current funding landscape and the needs and good practices for its development. In the interim report, the subgroup proposes an outline for improving the use and impact of national funding by developing and coordinating national, cross-sectoral cooperation and complementarity between the currently scattered programmes.
The work of the Forum will continue until the end of 2023, focusing on bringing forward the recommendations of the midterm report and updating the internationalization policies.
Read more about the different subgroups’ work and input, and how they are related to and advance the general aims of the Forum in the full report here.
