FinCEAL+ Targeted Travel Grants available for Nairobi Innovation Week 2018

March 27, 2018

FinCEAL+ Africa is offering Targeted Travel Grants to support the participation of experts based in Finnish institutions to the Nairobi Innovation Week 2018, 5-9 March.

Nairobi Innovation Week 2018

The innovation week brings together partners from government, private sector, development partners and research centres with an aim of providing a platform for show-casing and encouraging innovation.

Finland is actively supporting the week, as the programme includes, for example, a one-day event held jointly by the FoodAfrica Programme and the Finnish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Titled Improving Food Security Through Shared Value & Innovation, the interactive event is made of different types of sessions focusing both on theoretical and practical activities. Sessions will be split between presenting FoodAfrica and other case example and then applying the learnings in group discussions and group work. Innovation is most successful when it is demand-driven from local challenges and needs and leverages experiences from diverse stakeholders. Therefore, participants will be split into multi-sector groups where innovative exchange can take place. The day will include presentations of shared value and FoodAfrica results, discussions, groups activities and pitching new ideas.

In addition to the above event, Nairobi Innovation Week includes also the following Finnish representation:

  • Mon: Aalto University will organize a Problem-based Learning side-event
  • Tue: Business Event at Norfolk (plus bilateral meetings for the business delegation)
  • Wed: Shared Value workshop at Norfolk,
  • Wed & Thu: Exhibition area and a side-event by Demos Helsinki
  • Fri: Focus on startups.
