FinCEAL Plus Policy Briefs: Perspectives on Finnish Science, Technology and Innovation Collaboration with Africa, LAC and Southeast Asia

Perspectives on Finnish Bi-Regional Research and STI Collaboration. FinCEAL, an initiative of the UniPID network, commenced operation in 2013 with the following two main objectives: 1) Build Finnish cooperation with Africa, Asia and Latin America and the Caribbean; and 2) Enhance Finnish involvement in the science, technology and innovation policy dialogues with the regions and Europe.
FinCEAL, a project funded by the Ministry of Education and Culture and coordinated by the UniPID network, started in 2013 with the objective of supporting Finnish Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) cooperation with Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean and later also Asia, and enhancing Finnish involvement in the EU's bi-regional STI policy dialogues.
After 3 successful project periods, FinCEAL has accrued fundamental insights on the landscape as well as the outlook for Finnish cooperation with Africa, Asia and Latin America and the Caribbean in the fields of research and innovation.
As one of the key outputs of the initiative, FinCEAL has produced 3 regional policy briefs. The aim is to illuminate unique and region-specific details on the Finnish collaboration landscape with Africa, Southeast Asia and LAC, especially in regard to the national policy and funding context. The briefs further present challenges and opportunities that exist which could potentially impact future collaborative engagements with the regions. The policy briefs are based on longer reports which will be published in late 2018.
