Engaging SMEs in EU Africa STI Research Partnerships

Workshop organized at the occasion of the 5th EU-Africa Business Forum (EABF) and the 4th EU-Africa Summit on Monday, March 31st, 2014. To be held at the Permanent Representation of Finland to the European Union, Avenue de Cortenbergh 80, Brussels.



UniPID (The Finnish University Partnership for International Development) is organizing a stakeholder’s workshop on EU-Africa STI Research Partnerships, in cooperation with the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland, ESASTAP Plus,  CAAST-Net Plus, and PAEPARD (Platform for African-European partnership on Agricultural Research for Development) at the occasion of the 5th EABF and 4th EU-Africa Summit. The Workshop is targeting Researchers, Private Sector and Policy Makers working with themes related to EU-Africa STI Research.

The Workshop "Engaging SME’s in EU-Africa Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) Research Cooperation” is being organized on the occasion of the 5th EU-Africa Business Forum (EABF) and 4th EU-Africa Summit, held on Monday March 31st, 2014. (Venue: The Permanent Representation of Finland to the European Union, Avenue de Cortenbergh 80, Brussels)

The aim of the workshop is to:

Identify and highlight current successful national practices that could be adopted at EU-Africa bi-regional cooperation in STI;
Highlight challenges arising from policy and practice limiting these collaborations;
Further support successful mechanisms that enhance research between the two regions and highlight untapped opportunities;
Strengthen especially the participation of European and African Private Sector actors in STI research partnerships.

Stakeholders are invited to discuss and map out practical ways in which SME’s can and should be engaged in EU-Africa research partnerships.
