FinCEAL workshop gathered together over 50 researchers
FinCEAL workshop on research cooperation with Africa and the LAC region held on December 9th gathered together over 50 researchers from different Finnish universities, research institutions and universities of applied sciences to network and discuss their priorities in renewable energy, climate change and biodiversity related research.
The purpose of the workshop was to create new contacts and enhance interdisciplinary cooperation among the members of the Finnish research community working with the two regions, share information on current bi-regional activities in STI and map out the interests of Finnish researchers in relation to the bi-regional research policy dialogues and identify key areas in which FinCEAL can further support research cooperation within the thematic areas.
During the first half of the workshop, the regional groups worked parallel to each other and were joined together for an interactive session in the afternoon. Professor John Mugabe from the University of Pretoria, and Professor Álvaro Umaña Quesada from the Natural Resources Management Program at INCAE Business School, former Minister of Environment of Costa Rica, participated as the guest experts from Africa and the LAC region.
FinCEAL thanks all speakers, moderators and participants for their active input in the workshop! Here is what the participants thought of the day:
