The main focus of the project has been in Institutional Capacity Building in the area of Meteorological Network Design and Development, Hydrometeorological Data Management, Data Quality Control Procedures, Early Warning Systems and New Services Development.

Description

• A large effort has been given to the introduction the modern meteorological observation technologies (e.g. weather stations, radars and lightning network) and the use of the information to benefit the society. This has been done on both management and design area and also hands-on training to meteorologist and instrumentation divisions.
• The basis for the development of the DHM weather, climate and water observation network has been analysed in the Socio Economic Study in which the most effective application area, agriculture, has been identified.
• The project has gained knowledge of ministries and citizens of Nepal about potential effects of climate change and the importance of National Meteorological and Hydrological Services to help to adapt and mitigate the potential effects.
