Developing Development Studies

Research summary

Project "Developing Development Studies" is a capacity building project between Finnish and African universities aiming to produce highly qualified professionals in socio-economic development, capable of participating in official policy dialogue, training future professionals, and carrying out basic and applied research of excellence and relevance in Africa.

Description

The project focuses on staff, curriculum and administrative development of the institutes of Development Studies in Tanzanian and Zambian universities. It supports PhD students to finish their theses and to gain better pedagogical and research skills. With the help of the project, the African partner institutes are developing their curricula of Development Studies. Further, administrative capacity and internationalization of Zambian university is developed by founding and supporting an international office in the university.
