In this project FMI contributes to the
• Restructuring of the observation network
• Renewal of the telecommunication system both in national and international level
• Modernization of the climate database management system and
• Wider dissemination of meteorological data.
Description
The investment made for the rehabilitation of SMA’s observational network will be supported by human capacity building with a training program. The training will include both workshops and hands-on training. The training will be carried out by FMI experts’ missions to Sudan and by SMA experts’ study visits to Finland. The training will include following topics:
• Maintenance of observation network and modern meteorological instruments
• Data collection, QA/QC and database management
• Mobile weather services and weather services in Internet
• IT and application of new software
