Bioinformatics and Information Retrieval Data Structures Analysis and Design

I have been recently working on a critique of mainstream ( neoclassical and neoliberal) Economics and its relation to producing Climate Change and Ecological crises. I am a member of EXALT ( Global Extractivisms and Alternatives Initiative--- www.exalt.fi) I have been working on the conceptualisation of "global extractivism" ( see our forthcoming Special Forum on Extractivsm in the Journal of Peasant Studies). With Hamed Hosseini I have ben developing the concept of "Transversal cosmopolitanism" as a dialogic form of co-construction of knowledge for transformative praxes.

Dr. Raija Halonen acts as an Adjunct Professor and University Lecturer in the Faculty of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering at the University of Oulu, Finland, in the Research Unit M3S. She is intested in e-Inclusion and how it can be built and supported by ICT-enabled solutions and applications. Before her academic career she worked on information systems both in the public sector and in private IT enterprises. She has contacts with health sector and several private companies. Her research topics include serious games, gamification and human approach in relation to information processing science.

Abraham is currently pursuing his PhD as a doctoral researcher at the Centre for Environmental and Respiratory Health Research (CERH), Research Unit of Population Health, Faculty of Medicine, University of Oulu with support from Finnish government’s Planetary Health, Sustainability Transformations Doctoral Education Pilot (SusTra) program. Abraham intends to demonstrate synergistic vulnerabilities between infectious tropical diseases with climate change including correlation of ambient air pollutant (PM2.5, VOCs, Radon gas) with seasonal peaks in hospital visits/admissions for ARDS, Asthma and COPD exacerbation. Abraham also has in-depth interest in social and non-biomedical determinants of health including preparation and presentation of policy briefs to stakeholders e.g., at the WHO Executive Board Meeting. His recent field of work has been centered around sustainability of HIV and TB prevention, Care, Treatment program in LMICs beyond external assistance in the context of climate crises and global health security threats.
