Anndra Margareth Dumo

Anndra Margareth Dumo is an international doctoral student in the Department of Nursing Science at the University of Eastern Finland, working on an international multi-disciplinary research team. The long-term goal of my PhD dissertation is preparing the next generation of nurses in genomics/genetics nursing field. My personal goal is to become a nurse scientist and contribute in the career advancement of the nursing profession. The Siun Sote - Northern Karelia Social Services and Health Services Authority has offered me training as a family practitioner, caring for people with special needs and disabilities. The Biomedicine Department is helping me to enhance and upgrade my skills by providing laboratory training. I have worked in different research projects as one of their researchers like INEXCA Project funded by the European Union Horizon 2020, and Disruptive Green Project funded by TEKES with the Clinical Nutrition Department in their Quinoa Project as a clinical research nurse. I am an active member of the International Society of Nurses in Genetics (ISONG) https://www.isong.org/

Noor Punam
Visiting Researcher/Doctoral Candidate
Punam Noor’s research focuses on accommodating indigenous peoples' traditional knowledge in international climate change law with special reference to the European High Arctic, where she combines conceptual frameworks with indigenous traditional knowledge for the promotion of indigenous peoples' resilience against climate change. She is a PhD candidate at the Faculty of Law of the University of Lapland. She earlier had a Masters in Comparative and International Law from University of Eastern Finland. She specialised in Environmental and Climate Change Law and she did European Union Law as her minor studies. She has completed Postgraduate Diploma in Law from Northumbria University in the UK. Prior to that, she completed Bachelors in Law from University of London.
Saila-Maria Saaristo
PhD Researcher
Saila-Maria Saaristo is a doctoral researcher and lecturer in Global Development Studies at the University of Helsinki, and a member of Urbaria (Helsinki Institute of Urban and Regional Studies). Her current research project focuses on studying inequalities and discriminations, which are approached through the case of inequalities in access to housing, with a particular focus on homelessness and forced evictions. The study investigates especially gendered, classed and racialised housing exclusions. In addition to the academic career, Saaristo has worked extensively as a consultor, manager and coordinator of different kinds of international cooperation projects financed by the European Union and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Finland, in the areas of urban development and housing, civil society, good governance and democracy, human rights, and gender. She has worked and lived in many countries, including Cape Verde, Tanzania, Mozambique, Brazil, Bolivia and Portugal.

My doctoral research seeks to locate the EU’s external migration policies in both place and time, with a particular focus on the EU Emergency Trust Fund for Africa (EUTF for Africa).

As a Chief Expert in mineral processing he has been working at Geological Survey of Finland (GTK) since 2011. As the project manager he has leaded two European Union funded projects, two EIT RM funded projects, one Tekes (the Finnish Funding Agency for Innovation) funded project and one the Academy of Finland funded project which focus on primary ores and secondary tailings processing. He has participated one international cooperation project funded by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland to provide the training for the engineers from Mongolia in mineral processing.
