Master's Award in Development Studies
What is the Master's Award?
UniPID and the Finnish Society for Development Research (FSDR) hand out an annual prize to accomplished theses related to the field of global development studies. The recipient of the prize receives a sum of 1000 €, with two other meriting works awarded with honorary mentions. The aim of the award is to promote interdisciplinary development research conducted in UniPID member universities.
Who is the Master's Award for?
The application period is usually open from spring (April) until August. All theses that handle development topics or sustainable development in the context of or related to the Global South are eligible to apply. Theses completed during the previous academic year (August 1 to July 31) are eligible to participate. If you are interested in submitting your thesis during the next open call, keep an eye on the UniPID website, newsletters and Facebook during the spring.
How can I submit my thesis for the competition?
Submissions are sent to UniPID via email, full instructions are on the Call for Theses. The 2021 Call for Theses is open until 6 August 2021! Because the award was not handed out in 2020, theses completed during the 2019-2020 academic year are also eligible in 2021. Read the 2021 Call for Theses here.
