UNIPID welcomes applications for an advisor position with its new FinCEAL project: Developing Finnish Science, Technology and Innovation Cooperation between Europe, Africa and the LAC Region (FinCEAL). The aims of the project are to support and consolidate Finnish participation in bi-regional science policy dialogue and processes, coordinate and network Finnish researchers and science policy experts working with Africa and the LAC region, expand awareness of Finnish researchers in both regions, enhance the communication of the cooperation possibilities in the regions and highlight current Finnish research relevant to the regions. The objectives of the FinCEAL project support the general objectives of the UniPID network. The Advisor of the Africa component will be located in the UniPID Coordination Unit in the Department of Social Sciences and Philosophy, University of Jyväskylä.
The advisor will work to advance and coordinate the EU-Africa science cooperation and the STI dialogue in Finland. The primary themes of the Africa component of the project include food security, health, climate change, renewable energy and information society.
The Advisor responsible for the Africa component of the project will be responsible for carrying out the aims of the project in relation to the region.
Specific tasks include:
•Identifying Finnish researchers and science policy experts focusing on Africa;
•Creation of a database of Finnish researchers, science policy experts and research projects focusing on the region;
•Facilitating the participation of Finnish researchers and science policy experts in the relevant events and science policy processes in the region;
•Planning and executing events for networking Finnish researchers and furthering dialogue within Finland;
•Planning and executing regional (Africa, EU) side-events for networking Finnish researchers with African and European researchers;
•Administering preparatory funds for Finnish researchers applying for EU funding (Horizon 2020);
•Communicating project activities and outputs to the stakeholder community;
•Reporting the project activities and the use of funds to the UniPID coordination unit.
