Call for Experts to attend the 3rd ASEAN-EU Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) Days 2016, in Hanoi, Vietnam, 10 to 12 May 2016

The ASEAN-EU STI Days bring together researchers, scientists, science policy makers, innovative companies, and other stakeholders from ASEAN and EU countries for a yearly three-day conference on science, technology, and innovation issues and bi-regional co-operation in these fields.The ASEAN‐EU Science, Technology and Innovation Days (STI Days) are initiated by SEA‐EU‐NET as a biregional forum for cooperation activities between Europe and Southeast Asia. The STI Days are open to all actors and stakeholders in the fields of research, development and innovation, thus giving them the opportunity to build their network, discuss, and engage in exchanging on topics of common interest and explore perspectives for new cooperation. FinCEAL Plus ASIA is now gathering a delegation of experts from different Finnish universities, universities of applied sciences and research centres to participate the event.

FinCEAL Plus is looking for experts in Finnish institutions interested inattending the

3rd ASEAN-EU Science, Technologyand Innovation Days 2016 on 10-12 May 2016, in Hanoi, Vietnam.

The ASEAN-EU STI Days bring together researchers, scientists, sciencepolicy makers, innovative companies, and other stakeholders from ASEAN and EU countries for a yearly three-day conference on science, technology, and innovation issues and bi-regional co-operation in these fields.

The ASEANEU Science,Technology and Innovation Days (STI Days) are initiated by SEAEUNET as a biregional forum forcooperation activities between Europe and Southeast Asia. The STI Days are open to all actors and stakeholders in the fields of research, development and innovation, thus giving them the opportunity to build their network, discuss, and engage in exchanging on topics of common interest and explore perspectives for new cooperation.

TheASEAN-EU Science, Technology and Innovation Days are a forum style event, initiated by the European Commission’s 7th Framework Programme funded SEA-EU-NET II project. The ASEAN-EU STI Days 2016 will be organised in Hanoi, Vietnam, from 10-12 May, 2016. This year’s edition of the event will focus on presenting academic/industry collaborations in and between ASEAN and the EU in the context of common key societal challenges for both regions.

Thenumber of scientific workshops and expert sessions on various topics – like infectious diseases, water, food, energy nexus, metrology, ASEAN Economic Community and innovation – is expected to amount to 15, the expected number of participants ranges between 300-400, mainly from Southeast Asia and Europe. The STI Days are an ideal occasion for networking and exchange of ideas in thematic areas like Health, Environment, Water, Food Security & Safety or Innovation. A Brokerage Event connected to the previously mentioned topics, field visits to major research and innovation organisations in and around Hanoi as well as a paper and poster competition make the programme even more attractive. The STI days are generally visited by policy makers, company representatives, researchers and research administrators from both regions.

FinCEAL Plus ASIA is now gathering a delegation of experts from differentFinnish universities, universities of applied sciences and research centres to participate the event. The main topics covered are health, water, food security and safety, ICT, renewable energy and cleantech. The chosen experts will receive a max. 1700€ FinCEAL PlusTargeted Travel Grant to cover expenses related to travel, accommodation and daily allowances.

To apply, please send a short description (no more than two pages) detailing your interest in the event, i.e. why do you want to attend, how the event is related to your work and what is the expected benefit of the event for you and your institution.
