Niti's research interests lie in the intersection between design methods, knowledge systems particularly local, traditional and indigenous knowledges, and participatory social design-driven transformation. She is currently exploring the relationship between post-colonial indigenous research paradigms (Chilisa 2019) and integrated product development strategies for holistic knowledge production that implements cognitive justice (Visvanathan 1997; 2021) for research at the Cultural Interface (Nakata 1997, 2007; Durie 2005). Over 30 years of professional creative practice in design and innovation. This includes 15 years of leading interdisciplinary teams for fieldwork using design anthropology methodologies (rapid ethnography, indepth interviews, day in the life, observations and shadowing in markets, farms, villages, borderlands and more). Fieldwork personally completed in South Africa, The Philippines, India, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, and with local assistance in Benin and Malawi. Networks span the African continent. Frank is the Project Coordinator for the Africa Networks at the University of Jyväskylä. He coordinates three networks (FAPI, SAFINET, EDUCASE) that are part of strategic funding by the MEC. Frank is a doctoral researcher at the University of Lapland where his research focuses on integration of migrants with focus of his research on migrants from Sub Sahara Africa. He has written articles and contributed book chapters on human rights, Covid-19, social justice and education.

I am a doctoral candidate at Aalto ENG (Water and Environmental Engineering). I research higher education pedagogy for sustainable development, with a particular focus on engineering education, problem-based learning and Global South networks.

EduCase is a global pilot funded by the Finnish Ministry of Education EDUCase, and coordinated by Aalto University. EduCase aims at developing an innovative and educational case based institutional collaboration between Finnish Higher Institutions and Institutions/HEIs in potential partner countries in Africa. The major objectives of the EDUCase project include assisting in the provision of education relevant with sustainable development challenges, strengthening networks between partner countries’ HEIs and local innovation ecosystems, enhancing practical collaboration and deepening research networks and global competence of Finnish HEIs, advancing furthers innovations and the reaching of education development targets of HEIs in partner countries, advancing common innovation ecosystem between Finland and partner countries. Hanken/CCR's part of the project aims to device innovative educational collaborations with HEIs as well as with governmental and nongovernmental institutions that work on innovation in potential partner countries in Africa.

I am a motivated researcher who is enthusiastic about water resources conservation and sustainability. My main area of expertise is wastewater treatment methods and sewage networks design. I have extensive experience in data collection, data analysis, manuscript preparation and scientific publication.

Professor Tuija Turunen holds a position of Dean at the Faculty of Education, University of Lapland, Finland. She is a leader of the teacher education programme. Turunen holds the UArctic Chair in Education for Social Justice and Diversity and leads the UArctic and the UNESCO/UNITWIN networks on Teacher Education for Social Justice and Diversity. Professor Turunen is an internationally recognized expert in these fields and has given invited addresses throughout the globe both in scientific and popular arenas, e.g. UNESCO Teacher Task Force in Jamaica, Arctic Forum in Russia, IICBA in Ethiopia and various forums in Europe. She has published widely and leads several national and international projects. Professor Turunen’s current research interests focus on teacher education, indigenous education, professional development in higher education, educational transitions (especially starting school), multi-professional work in schools, and preventative school welfare work.
