FinCEAL Plus: Open Call for Travel Grants 2015

The first FinCEAL Plus Open Call for Travel Grants was open between March and May 2015. In this Call, FinCEAL Plus received 36 applications and awarded a total of 30 grants (of which 21 grants were for researchers and 9 for PhD candidates). View the Grantees for the first FinCEAL Plus Open Call

FinCEAL: Open Call for Travel Grants 2014

This Open Call for the Grants for Africa and the LAC region was published in April and closed in May 2014. We received 45 applications in total, and 28 grants were awarded.  View the Grantees for the second Open Call for the FinCEAL Travel Grants

2. Project Preparatory Grants


FinCEAL Plus: Rolling Call for Project Preparatory Grants 2015-2016

The Rolling Call for Project Preparatory Funding for Africa, Asia and LAC-related projects was launched in March 2015 and closed in April 2016. FinCEAL Plus awarded a total of 10 grants between 2000€ and 5000€. Grants were awarded to the following institutions:

  • University of Turku, Finland Futures Research Centre (2 different teams and projects)
  • VTT, Functional Fibre Products & Human-Driven Design and System Dynamics (2 different teams and projects)
  • University of Oulu, Centre for Wireless Communication
  • University of Helsinki, Dept. of Food and Environmental Sciences and Dept. of World Cultures (2 different teams and projects)
  • Laurea University of Applied Sciences, Research, Development & Innovation
  • University of Eastern Finland, School of Computing & Karelian Institute (2 different teams and projects)

FinCEAL: Call for Project Preparatory Funding 2013-2014

The first call for this funding targeting Africa and the LAC region was open between December 2013 and January 2014. The second call was open between June and August 2014. Through the two calls, FinCEAL received 20 applications and awarded 6 grants of 5000€.

3. Event Grants

FinCEAL Plus: Call for Event Grants 2016

This Call was open from in September-October 2016, and targeted events related to Asia and the LAC region only. List of grantees

FinCEAL Plus: Call for Event Grants 2015

This call, targeting Asia, Africa and the LAC region was open between September and November 2015. In this Call we received 18 applications and awarded a total of 11 grants. List of grantees

FinCEAL: Pilot Event Grant Call 2015

This Pilot Call was open in January-February 2015, and was targeted to the LAC region only. We received a total of 12 applications from 7 different institutions. 11 grants between 2500€ and 5000€ were awarded to:

4. Research Visit Grants

FinCEAL Plus: Pilot Call for Research Visit Grants 2016

The Pilot Call was open between September and October 2016 and targeted research visits from the LAC region only. We received 8 applications from 6 Finnish institutions, and awarded 3 grants for the following institutions/teams:

  • University of Turku, Department of Biology, Amazon Research Team
  • University of Eastern Finland, School of Forest Sciences
  • Åbo Akademi, Faculty of Chemistry and Engineering, Fibre and Cellulose Technology Laboratory
