The University of Laplandis a multidisciplinary university with a focus on science and the arts. The university supports local and world-wide sustainable development, wellbeing and equality through research, art and education.

The northern university’s areas of expertise include Arctic and northern themes, which can often find counterparts in the global south. These themes can relate to social, cultural or economic issues or, for example, deal with the status of indigenous peoples. Sustainable development is also a key aspect in tourism research, which is another focal point of the university.
