UniPID invites papers for a working group on Temporalities, Cultures and Locations of "Gender" and "Development" in the annual Gender Studies Conference, organized in Jyväskylä on 23-25 November 2017. This working group will also host a special guest speaker, akshay khanna from New Delhi to touch upon the connections between sexuality and development. UniPID Planning Days 2017 were held in connection with the second UniPID board meeting of the year, on 18-19 May in Hyytiälä research station, run by the University of Helsinki.This annual get-together is the most important board activity of the year, which aims to facilitate both the evaluation of UniPID’s past activities, as well as brainstorming and planning of UniPID’s strategic objectives and actions for the future.

UniPID Virtual Studies nominated as a Finnish entry for the UNESCO-Japan Prize on ESD

The UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) hands out a prize on Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) funded by the Government of Japan, which consists of three annual awards of USD 50,000 for each recipient. The prize was awarded for the first time in 2015.

Master's Award in Development Studies 2017

The Finnish University Partnership for International Development – UniPID and the Finnish Society for Development Research (FSDR) jointly seek exceptional Master’s level theses from UniPID universities to be awarded. The Master’s Award in Development Studies 2017 will be presented in conjunction with FSDR’s Development Day Seminar 2018. The prize sum is 1,000 euros. There will also be two honorable mentions for exceptionally meriting works.

The seminar gathered 45 participants including researchers (professors, post docs and PhD students), research funding organizations and government representatives and other stakeholders from Finland and Indonesia.

A new evaluation report of the Sustainability in Development Virtual Studies Programme has been published. The data for the evaluation was gathered from course feedback, and two evaluation questionnaires that were sent out in 2014 and 2015.
