UniPID launches a Call for Proposals to support the organization of a seminar on global development issues. The grants, worth up to 2000 euros, will be awarded to a UniPID member university, which is organizing or co-organizing a seminar in 2018.

My Internship Reflections at UniPID

This post is a reflection on my 12 weeks internship period at UniPID. As a student of Masters in Research and Innovation in Higher Education (MARIHE) an internship is a mandatory part of the program to gain practical knowledge in the field of higher education. A task that helped me to broaden my understanding of the various thematic categories of global development issues was attending the UniPID Planning Days on 18th -19th May 2017 in Hyytiälä. Traditionally, the global development issues are studied from three dimensions of social, economic, and environmental. However, there are some issues like health and gender that are not easy to categorize and fall under 'cross-cutting' theme.

Call for Papers: UniPID working group on Temporalities, Cultures and Locations of

UniPID invites papers for a working group on Temporalities, Cultures and Locations of "Gender" and "Development" in the annual Gender Studies Conference, organized in Jyväskylä on 23-25 November 2017. This working group will also host a special guest speaker, akshay khanna from New Delhi to touch upon the connections between sexuality and development. UniPID board holds annual Planning Days at Hyytiälä research station

UniPID Planning Days 2017 were held in connection with the second UniPID board meeting of the year, on 18-19 May in Hyytiälä research station, run by the University of Helsinki.This annual get-together is the most important board activity of the year, which aims to facilitate both the evaluation of UniPID’s past activities, as well as brainstorming and planning of UniPID’s strategic objectives and actions for the future.

UniPID Virtual Studies nominated as a Finnish entry for the UNESCO-Japan Prize on ESD

The UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) hands out a prize on Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) funded by the Government of Japan, which consists of three annual awards of USD 50,000 for each recipient. The prize was awarded for the first time in 2015.
